South Dublin County Council in conjunction with Dublin City Council and the Office of Public Works are pleased to announce a significant milestone in the River Poddle Flood Alleviation Scheme with the recent completion of approximately 230m of raised embankments and the completion of the flow control weir at the Tymon Park Lakes, allowing the impoundment flood protection asset to commence operation from February 20th. 

As the construction of the scheme progress, works are now scheduled to commence in the Eastern end of Ravensdale Park from May 2025.

Ahead of the commencement of works in Ravensdale Park from May 2025, a Pre-Construction Information Event will be held on Wednesday February 5th from 4.30pm to 7.00pm in the Mount Argus Community Centre, 179 Kimmage Lower.

In June 2023, following the planning application made in February 2020, An Bord Pleanala granted planning approval for the River Poddle Flood Alleviation Scheme. Details on the approval can be found at https://www.pleanala.ie/en-ie/case/306725.
